As for the Addition Central Assistance Scheme, states would have to draw up comprehensive district-wise and state-level plans to seek funds that would be provided as 100 per cent grant by th Centre. The CCEA also cleared an outlay of Rs 1,500 crore for the scheme for 2007-08 along with an allocation of Rs 25,000 crore for five years. Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who announced the decisions after the CCEA’s meeting said, “We hope that the states will avail the benefits of the Additional Central Assistance Scheme and will also assist the Centre in implementing the Food Security Mission.”

Nod for DMIC projects

New Delhi : Days ahead Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to India, the UPA Cabinet has cleared a slew of proposals linked to the Delhi , Mumbai industrial Corridor (DMIC) project. The DMIC is a flagship project of the special Economic Partnership Initiative between India and Japan as envisioned in the point statement issued by the two countries during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Japan in December 2006. The industrial corridor between Mumbai and Delhi is just the work together on. These include Dedicate Multi modal high Axle Load Freight Corridors with computerized control on the Mumbai Delhi and Delhi-Howrah routes. The Japan international Cooperation Agency (JICA ) is expected to submit its final report on the freight corridor projects by October and the construction is expected to begin by 2008-09. The Cabinet’s clearance came for specific poration will be formed, whose organization structure has been cleared and includes the setting up of an apex authority to be chaired by the Union Finance Minister.
