Bogus Electoral Roll in Daman: 254 voters in one house

By Correspondent

Daman: A massive rally of BJP members, headed by Mr. Jogibhai M. Tandel, accompanied by Vasubhai Patel, State General Secretary, B. M. Machhi, State Vice President and others, was held from Moti Daman football ground to the office of the Collector, Daman for submitting a reminder for Addition and Deletion of names in electoral roll.

BJP district President Mr. Jogibhai M. Tandel, along with other BJP members, submitted a reminder to the Collector, Daman intimating bogus registration of voters’ name.

Jogibhai, in his reminder, objected to registration of bogus names of voters in electoral roll as notified in official gazette.

According to Jogibhai, due to conspiracy of officers as well as Sarpanch of Dabhel Panchayat, bogus certificates were issued to the voters for getting their names registered in the electoral roll.

According to jogibhai, names of approximately 4000 bogus voters, not resident of Daman, have been registered and requested to physically verify the same through a special officer from Election Commission. He said, on an average, about 1000 to 1500 voters should be stipulated in a polling station while bifurcating wards, whereas, 4155 voters were found registered for Ghelwad Falia, being Polling Station No. 30 of Dabhel Panchayat. Further, Jogibhai requested the Collector to cancel the bogus names from the Electoral Roll and to take necessary disciplinary action against the involved persons / officers, failing which, they will be compelled to go on Hunger Strike.
